Financial Analyst Internships
Northrop Grumman Newport News is offering intern opportunities in our Finance division. We are looking for candidates with a desire to obtain significant experience while working on specific projects. We also want our interns to evaluate our Company as an employer should we make them an offer to continue employment with us upon graduation from college. The Northrop Grumman Newport News sector is located in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia with close proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains, various beaches including the Outer Banks, and small cities such as Norfolk and Richmond. Our internship opportunities are located in Newport News, VA. Internships are offered during the summer months in one of four areas of our Finance division.

Financial Reporting interns will analyze and prepare financial statements, SEC reports, and tax returns in compliance with cost accounting standards.

Accounting interns will assist in the maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of contract invoices, account analysis, and fixed asset records.

Operations Finance interns will analyze and report on the cost of operations that support multi-billion dollar construction or repair projects.

Cost Management interns will analyze and justify capital projects, and analyze and report on Departmental and Divisional budgets.

Northrop Grumman Newport News Engineering Cooperative Education

The Northrop Grumman Newport News co-op program provides a variety of engineering opportunities for on the job learning experiences. Participation is encouraged from students pursuing a four-year undergraduate engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university.

Assignments are based on a candidate's goals and the company's needs. Responsibilities and training will involve assisting professional engineers and project managers with design and analysis based on current project needs.

Individuals could find themselves working in the submarine, aircraft carrier, or nuclear engineering divisions. Students must be able to obtain a department of defense confidential clearance. Due to this government requirement, U.S. citizenship is required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Baccalaureate engineering program for a minimum of 12 credit hours
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Completion of freshman year
  • At least a 2.6 GPA (based on a 4.0)
  • Must pass a drug test, physical and background check

Cooperative Education Opportunities with IIS – Our Co-op Program

IIS provides a variety of information technology and technical opportunities for on-the-job learning experience. We encourage participation from students pursuing a full-time, four-year, accredited undergraduate degree in computer science and/or information technology fields.

Co-op Requirements

Eligible Applicants...

  1. Must be enrolled, full time, in an accredited local 4-year degree program (ODU, CNU, NSU)
  2. Must have completed Freshman year
  3. Must be referred by the school co-op coordinator or program office
  4. Must be majoring in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field carrying at least 12 credit hours/semester
  5. Must be a U.S. Citizen
  6. Must have a 2.6 GPA or better, based on a 4.0 scale
  7. A current transcript is required before any offer can be made
  8. Must pass a drug screen
