Internships : Ship Systems Internships

Engineering has internship programs with the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, University of Michigan, and the Webb Institute. Students are assigned six weeks' intern duty at NGSS facilities where they work within their engineering discipline. Students write a term paper outlining their learning experiences while at NGSS and make suggestions for improving the program.

Operations provides internships for students from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and the Webb Institute. Students are assigned to six weeks' work at NGSS and rotated through different departments during their internship. Students are given projects to complete and a term paper to present to their professor outlining experiences while at NGSS.

Ship Systems Co-op Program:
Co-op programs for Ship Systems employees are offered through Engineering and Operations; current employees apply and may be selected to participate. There are three programs available: 1) Operations 2) Engineering and 3) Industrial Engineering. Tuition reimbursement is available for the Operations and Engineering disciplines, while the Industrial Engineering co-op is responsible for their tuition expenses.
