Performs as a Fire Fighter and performs emergency services activities, maintenance, and training. Work schedule is 24 hrs on duty 24 hours off duty. Responds to requests for service, all (fire, EMS, special rescue) emergencies; performs and participates in the proper mitigation of same. Teaches Fire Prevention and other courses as required. Completes all duties as assigned. Maintains adequate resources and keep them in proper operation and in a mission ready state. Maintain files and records on equipment including calibration schedules, inspections and inspection results. Participate in development, installation emergency and/or disaster response exercises, and operation planning committees and meetings. This position has been designated as 'emergency essential' by DOD, and is therefore required, as a condition of employment, to take the series of anthrax vaccine immunizations to include annual boosters. This would include other immunizations that may in the future be required for this position, or for a position employee may fill as an emergency-essential alternate. Failure to take the immunizations may lead to removal of employee from this position. All applicable DOD, Dept. of State, or other Federal documents (i.e. Directives, Instructions, & "Requirements for Emergency Essential Employees") will be followed by employee & employer. Education Level: High School graduate, with some college preferred. Experience: Minimum 5 years firefighting experience in the U.S. military, DOD, or as a civilian. Specific knowledge, skill, ability, requirements: Fire Fighter I & II, Driver Operator, Haz-Mat Operations, certifications and current EMT-P and the ability to instruct. Current Drivers license required.
