Northrop Grumman Adaptive Optics Associates (AOA) designs, develops and manufactures a wide variety of standard and custom electro-optic and opto-mechanical products. Since its inception, AOA has steadily expanded its engineering and manufacturing capabilities to provide its customers with the highest quality products, systems and services.
Responsible for interfacing between project manager and production team for low volume production of opto-mechanical devices. This is a hands-on position requiring direct experience in fiber, micro-optic and opto-mechanical assembly, testing. This position also requires responsibility for coordinating workflow, including document and data management, generation of work orders, maintaining part traceability, maintaining build books, inventory tracking and driving production to meet delivery schedules.
Basic Qualifications:
B.S. in Optical or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years hands-on experience with alignment, assembly, bonding and testing of precision opto-mechanical, fiber and micro-optic components. Years of experience will be taken into considreation in lieu of degree.
4+ years experience coordinating production resources and workflow
Must possess good written communication skills to document work performed and work well as part of a team
Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand basics of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
US Citizenship is a bona fide requirement as applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must possess or have possesed a Top Secret Clearance within the last five years.
Assets:
Ability to design custom tooling and fixtures for optical assembly or alignment.
Basic machine tool operation experience
Experience with electronics/electrical test methods
