Seeking an experienced Somali Language Analyst (with reporting experience preferred) for a technical position. This position requires an individual capable of discovering and disseminating timely, actionable information. As a member of a team of linguists/analysts the individual will be responsible for the processing of Somali language material (both voice and graphic), reporting, and research, development and maintenance of information that further the goals and objectives of the team. Responsibilities include processing Somali language material both aurally and written, generate reports predicated on Somali language material and fused with information obtained from other sources. Required to perform research on a variety of subjects as they relate to Somalia and to generate reports based on research. Required to learn and use existing computer based technologies for target development, automated report generating and computer language processing tools.The successful applicant will be a skilled Language Analyst with strong Somali language ability and at least 5 years of experience working with the language. Familiarity with Microsoft Word. Familiarity with the Content Preparation Environment (CPE) is preferable. Exposure to and basic proficiency in global network analysis and tools is desirable. Good writing, research, collaboration and coordination skills are required. Must have the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. Strong knowledge of Somalia, its history, culture, economic, religions, industries, and current events is a must. The Linguist shall have, at a minimum, 10 years transcription, translation, interpreting or other language-related experience. Level 3/3, as measured by the Defense Language Proficiency Test or equivalent, is required. Personnel in this category will, at a minimum, have extensive experience in language, literature, linguistics, related humanistic fields, and have accumulated seven years cryptologic experience. All testing must be current, within the last 12 months before resume acceptance date, or current testing must occur before resume is accepted. Linguist shall have an excellent command of foreign language and the specific knowledge, talent and skill necessary to function independently. Performance at level 3 required for all tasks. Individual must perform at final contractor Quality Control level for some voice and graphic tasks.
