Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Network Communications 4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Miami Florida. Transforming the future of technology… The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Team supporting the Army Signal Activity - Southern Command's (SOUTHCOM's) mission, which is to plan, engineer, install, operate, maintain, and protect all information technology and information management (IT/IM) systems to enable operations for the USSOUTHCOM HQ and its joint, interagency combined, and tenant elements in Miami, Florida, and selected continental United States sites with a staff of approximately 3,000 (4000 by the year 2011). Northrop Grumman will provide engineers, technicians, software developers, and specialists on-site and on-call to administer ASA-SOUTHCOM's IT/IM systems and networks and to provide support, such as user services, installation and upgrade services, information assurance, logistics and supply support, hardware and software support, help desk services, video teleconferencing (VTC) support, conference room support, tech control facility support, and training support. Northrop Grumman is assembling a team contingent upon winning the ASA SOUTHCOM procurement, but apply today, preferred positions will be filled quickly. Roles and Responsibilities: * Maintains smooth operation of local area, world wide and virtual private networks (VPN). Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages. * The candidate will install, configure, and manage all switches, routers, and other network infrastructure equipment. The candidate will maintain routing tables, operating systems, security patches, and upgrades. * Manage and control all ASA-USSOUTHCOM wide area network IP ranges. The candidate will act as the SIPRNET and NIPRNET Network Information Center's (NIC) technical POC for the southcom.mil and southcom.smil.mil domains. The candidate will coordinate with the region's network managers and the SIPRNET and NIPRNET NIC on all domain or IP issues. The USSOUTHCOM HQ networks utilize fixed or static IP addressing, but may migrate to the Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) in the future. * Provide engineering and reengineering support for all new installs. The candidate will provide reengineering support for current network infrastructure, ensuring lifecycle and network refresh is maintained. * Provide Domain Name Server (DNS) support for ASA- SOUTHCOM networks and provide secondary DNS support for the region's domains. The candidate will provide guidance on standards to subdomains on their DNS structure. This 'external' DNS is a Redhat LINUX Advance Server on a DELL Intel server. The 'internal' DDNS resolves only for the internal network, and it runs the MS DDNS system. This second DNS is managed by the system administrators. (See PWS paragraph 3.1 Systems Administration.) * Network Management On-Call Support. * The candidate may be required to travel CONUS (any state in USA) and OCONUS (any country in Central, South America, and the Caribbean to accomplish the tasks contained in this TO. Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below: * Bachelor of Science * 9 Years Experience, or 7 Years Experience with Masters * The candidate will obtain certification compliance IAW DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program and meet the minimum requirements within six months of the task order award. * Position requires a current TS/SCI (SI/TK) Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: * Bachelors of Science Degree and 7 Years of Network Management Experience This position is contingent upon contract award, budget, and/or customer approval.
