Northrop Grumman Information Systems sector is seeking a Telecommunications Tech 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Miami Florida.
Transforming the future of technology… The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Team supporting the Army Signal Activity - Southern Command's (SOUTHCOM's) mission, which is to plan, engineer, install, operate, maintain, and protect all information technology and information management (IT/IM) systems to enable operations for the USSOUTHCOM HQ and its joint, interagency combined, and tenant elements in Miami, Florida, and selected continental United States sites with a staff of approximately 3,000 (4000 by the year 2011). Northrop Grumman will provide engineers, technicians, software developers, and specialists on-site and on-call to administer ASA-SOUTHCOM's IT/IM systems and networks and to provide support, such as user services, installation and upgrade services, information assurance, logistics and supply support, hardware and software support, help desk services, video teleconferencing (VTC) support, conference room support, tech control facility support, and training support.

Roles and Responsibilities:
* Performs a variety of electronic and technical assignments on data communications equipment and systems under general supervision. Completes terminal troubleshooting using appropriate diagnostic equipment. Installs terminals, controllers, and test equipment and restores nonworking lines and/or equipment to working condition. Maintains liaison with outside vendors and orders circuits and/or equipment as required. Requires knowledge of specific modems, test equipment, and terminal configuration. May develop recommendations for the combined usage of data processing and telephone system hardware and software.
* Provide electronics maintenance 24x7 support to the USSOUTHCOM HQ, its Miami metropolitan area, and the AOF.
* Support systems administration of level-1 Telenex VC-1000 UNIX Network Management Operating System.
* Perform installation, testing, termination, and troubleshooting of all cabling infrastructure and circuits.
* Receive, ship hand receipt communications security (COMSEC) keying material, install Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI), and communications-electronic equipment.
* Support a wide range of equipment, to include digital and analog encryption and decryption devices and key transfer devices.
* Use testing equipment in support of the TCF duties, to include the Fireberd 6000, Acterna FST2310, oscilloscope, and multimeters.
* Candidates must be school-trained or certified on the TELNEX Matrix Switch 2700/2800, Integrated Digital Network Exchange (IDNX), asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switch, multiplexers, inverse multiplexers, direct-current (DC) power supplies, fiber-optic modems, channel service units (CSUs), and data service units (DSUs).
* Follow the Air Force Technical Order (AFTO); Military Standard (MIL-STD) 188; Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) commercial installation standards; and chapter 8 of the National Electric Code (NEC) and its reference chapters and tables as applicable.
* Test, diagnose, and troubleshoot a variety of electronic systems and COMSEC equipment to determine the cause of malfunction.
* Create and maintain Remedy trouble tickets through the Theater Network Operations Center (TNOSC) TNOSC and maintain a station log on all circuit outages, problems, and events.
* Perform Tech Control Facility (TCF) circuit activations and deactivations.
* Apply knowledge of electronics theory to perform limited communications circuit design.
* Serve as the Node Site Coordinator (NSC), the designated representative of the sponsoring communications or information systems command or agency. As NSC, the candidate will follow DISA Circulars 310-55-9 and 310-70-1 and GTL instructions.
* The candidate may be required to travel CONUS (any state in USA) and OCONUS (any country in Central, South America, and the Caribbean to accomplish the tasks contained in this TO.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:
* AA or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline
* 1 Years Experience
* School-trained or certified on the TELNEX Matrix Switch 2700/2800, Integrated Digital Network Exchange (IDNX), asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switch, multiplexers, inverse multiplexers, direct-current (DC) power supplies, fiber-optic modems, channel service units (CSUs), and data service units (DSUs)
* The candidate will obtain certification compliance IAW DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program and meet the minimum requirements within six months of the task order award.
* Position requires a current TS/SCI (SI/TK)
