Description:
The Mission Assurance Software Quality Engineer will be engaged in a technically challenging environment to provide expertise toward design, development, and qualification of highly complex software and systems for use in microcircuit manufacturing, avionics and space-based systems. This position requires technical understanding and expert knowledge to assure compliance of software development activities to industry and government standards, internal processes, contractual requirements, technical requirements, and operational support activities. The ability to comprehend system level requirements and their allocation and implementation into software is necessary. Analytical capabilities, with attention to details, plus an ability to provide technical solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practical and consistent with organization objectives is required. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills are required to participate on integrated product teams and facilitate frequent interaction with engineering departments, program management, development teams, customers and government agencies.
Basic Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Statistics is required. Three (3) years of work experience and/or internships in an engineering environment is required. A combination of education and experience in the following skills is preferred:
* Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., C++, C# or Java, plus HTML), is required.
* Proficiency in internet-based system development and internet-based system testing
* Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio, Visual Basic or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
* Familiarity with .NET and AJAX
* Experience with a leading database (e.g., Oracle) and ability to perform database queries (e.g., SQL)
* Experience with installation, development, and configuration of applications on UNIX and/or Windows platforms
* Experience with software product compliance, verification, validation, testing, analysis, and reporting
* Understanding of information systems security practices (cryptography, privilege separation, etc.)
* Knowledge of network, host, data and/or application security in multiple operating system environments
* Knowledge of military and industry models and standards related to Systems Development Life Cycle, such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI), AS9100, ISO 9001:2008 and MIL Standards
* Familiarity with SAP or an equivalent MRP system, is desirable
* Technical editing and writing
Candidate must have an active Secret clearance.
The candidate will develop software quality related procedures, instructions and plans in order to participate in the review of engineering activities. The candidate will track and resolve action items from audits and reviews to closure. In addition, the candidate will be required to develop database applications and analysis tools for use by the Mission Assurance organization. Development of these internal intranet-based systems will be according to Northrop Grumman information technology standards.
