Individual is a System Test Engineer supporting the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance (BAMS) Program within the Rancho Bernardo (RB) BAMS Systems Center (BSC) System Integration Laboratory infrastructure. Individual will write formal as required test reports/procedures, contribute to the improvement of the testing process/procedures/tools, assist in product design analysis, and general BSC improvements. Position typically requires 40% hands-on system center work, and 60% desk work, with majority support to the System Integration and Test group. Position reports directly to the BSC Engineering Manager, and indirectly to SIT Lead Engineer. This position supports SIL operations, HW/SW configuration/inventory management including data base computer processes, System Integration and Test (SIT) systems requirements, and analog/digital design of systems under test (SUT) network concepts. Position will be based at the ISWR UMS Rancho Bernardo, San Diego facility but may require travel to other contractor/test sites.Individual is responsible for the independent creation of Test Procedures, Reports, Test Equipment design and SUT concepts, Test Configurations, Air Vehicle/Control Segment UMS System and Sub-System evaluation of Systems Test requirements relative to the BSC SOW. Primary area of expertise within the group shall be the individuals extensive hands on/technical knowledge of Air Vehicle/Control Segment Primary/Secondary System design, the cost effective, timely implementation of new or change requirements to test equipment design configurations that affect such elements as: 1) standards, 2) User friendliness, 3) Requirements compliance, 4) System Test linkage with procedures, and/or cost 5) Verification and QA of change and the process for change. Person shall represent the BSC on technical matters as a member of the program Engineering Review Board (ERB). Preferred Experience: Person familiar and/or experienced with Ground Segment workstation design, UMS Air Vehicle Hot Bench design, Mil-STD-1553, CAN, Ethernet, and data communications such as RS232, RS423, RS422, and RS485. Duties suggest that the individual be familiar with or capable of manipulating computer C++ code, shell script, Perl script, C code, Visual C++, MS Access Data Base , Lab View, and Microsoft Visual Basics programs. UMS air vehicle operations background is strongly preferred. Basic Qualifications: 9-13 years of Electrical Engineering, a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance is required. Candidate shall be able to show objective evidence of previous, leadership task, Control Systems, and Robotics experience with good written/verbal communication skills. Individual must exhibit a high level of Microsoft Windows competency in application software such as Visio, Excel, Access, Project, etc. Relocation Assistance Available. Security Clearance Required.
