Job Description:
This is a Technical Task Lead position with primary responsibilities of coordinating and supporting the assembly, alignment, testing and high level troubleshooting of opto-mechanical assemblies for low volume production and custom prototyping. The position also involves making design improvements for next generation technology, designing custom alignment and test fixtures, and supporting Production Engineers in the coordination of workflow and traceability thorough Work Orders, Configuration Management, Build Books, etc.
Basic Qualifications:
BS in Optical or Mechanical Engineering
7 plus years hands on experience with design, assembly, alignment and testing of small opto-mechanical components and systems for low volume production
5 plus years experience as technical task lead with responsibility for supplying day to day direction and support to technical staff, and driving program related engineering tasks and milestones to completion
Experience working in a low volume production environment utilizing Work Orders, Configuration Audit Sheets, Build Books, etc
Experience bonding optics and mechanical hardware with application specific epoxies
Ability to align and assemble components under a microscope
Proficient in reading mechanical drawings
Must possess good written communication skills to document work performed.

Assets (Preferred qualifications):
Masters degree in Optical or Mechanical Engineering
Proficient with Solid Works
Proficient writing LabVIEW VIs and Excel macros
Material science experience: strength of materials, corrosion, epoxy curing and adhesion
Experience with environmental stress screening
Familiarity with general machine shop practices
Top Secret Security Clearance Preferred
