Employee Awards & Recognition

Northrop Grumman employees have been honored as some of the best and brightest for their contributions to a variety of fields. Our employees have also been recognized by a variety of diversity organizations for their professional achievements. These individual awards are in addition to the awards that Northrop Grumman has received as a company.  Northrop Grumman is proud of our employees’ dedication to making a lasting impact on the world that we live in.

Asian American Engineer of the Year Awards

Roger Fujii, vice president of the Network Communication Systems business unit for Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems sector in San Diego, was honored with the Asian American Engineer Executive of the Year award for his technical achievements, his role serving as mentor at Northrop Grumman and his involvement in the community.


F. Dong Tan received the Asian American Engineer of the Year award for his technical and leadership skills. He is a center staff manager and distinguished engineer within the Mixed-Signal & Power Center at Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems sector.

 

Melissa Sandlin received the Asian American Most Promising Engineer award for technical accomplishments that indicate a promising career. She is manager of Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics (EM&L) Talent Management at Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector. (Back to top)

 

Black Engineer of the Year Awards

Gloria Pualani, director of Socio-Economic Business Programs/Government Relations for Northrop Grumman, received the Supplier Diversity award for her efforts in helping advance small, women, and minority-owned businesses in the aerospace industry at the 2010 BEYA conference. 

Dr. William L. Jones, senior staff scientist/sub project manager in the Microelectronics Product Center at Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems sector, received the Trailblazer and Special Recognition awards for his technical expertise in microelectronics at the 2010 BEYA conference. National Society of Black Engineers – March 2010

Dr. William L. Jones was awarded the Lifetime Achievement in Aerospace by the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) for his technical excellence, leadership, and contributions to the engineering field. Dr. Jones is a senior staff scientist/sub project manager in the Microelectronics Product Center within the Space and Defense Products Division of the company’s Aerospace Systems sector. Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference (HENNAC)

 

Ana-Luisa Ramirez, the lead systems engineer for the Imagery Intelligence group for Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector in Baltimore, received HENAAC’s Luminary award for her leadership, collaboration and initiative in programs and research within her organization.

 

Rosa Sandoval, a subsystems design engineer for the N-UCAS program at Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace System sector in El Segundo, CA, received HENAAC’s Luminary award for her leadership, collaboration and initiative in programs and research within her organization.

 

Teresa Segura, a staff scientist of Civil Systems Business Development for Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems sector in Redondo Beach, CA, was awarded HENAAC’s Most Promising award for her technical contributions and achievements.

 

Emilio Sovero received the Outstanding Technical Achievement award for his significant contribution to science, engineering or technology by having designed, developed, managed or assisted in the development of a product, service, system or intellectual property. He is a chief scientist in the mixed signal and power center at Northrop Grumman Advanced Systems and the program manager of the DARPA A-to-I Receiver Development program at the company’s Aerospace Systems sector in Manhattan Beach, CA. Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

Douglas Orellana, a systems engineer for Northrop Grumman, has received the 2009 Promising Engineer of the Year award from the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers for his outstanding technical accomplishments. (Back to top)

Society of Women Engineers  

Martha Addison, a design engineer for the F-35 program at Northrop Grumman’s Aerospace Systems sector, received SWE’s Outstanding Collegiate Member award for her outstanding contribution to the society, the engineering community, and her collegiate efforts at the University of Alabama.

 

Diane LaFortune, a mechanical engineer at Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector, received SWE’s Distinguished New Engineer award for engaging in engineering in the first 10 years of her career.

 

Michelle Tortolani, an engineering program manager for advanced RF systems at Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems sector, received SWE’s Fellow award for achieving professional excellence, furthering the society’s goals, and increasing the public’s awareness of engineering as a profession for women. Women of Color in Technology STEM Conference – October 2009

 

Margaret Paulin, Corporate University Relations & Recruiting Campus Relations Lead for Northrop Grumman, received the WOCT Corporate Promotion of Education award for her work in promoting minority educational advancement in science, engineering and technology.

 

Cheryl Horn, corporate manager of Community Relations for Northrop Grumman, was honored with WOCT’s Corporate Responsibility award for her work helping under-represented communities.

 

Jeannie Johnson, director of Human Resource Systems for Northrop Grumman, received WOCT’s Diversity Leadership award for her efforts in promoting diversity across the organization and community.

 

Patty Chang-Chien, Wafer-Scale Assembly (WSA) Integrated Product Team lead for Northrop Grumman, received WOCT’s Technical Innovation award for her technical innovations in the development of a new process.

 

Melissa Sandlin, manager at Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems Engineering, Manufacturing and Logistics Talent Management in Baltimore, received the WOCT’s Community Service Award for her leadership in the minority technology and science community through her volunteer work and contributions.

 

Sheila Prather, manager of Systems Reliability Engineering group at Northrop Grumman’s Electronic Systems in Baltimore, was honored with WOCT’s Special Recognition award for her contributions to significant wins and implementation of major programs at Northrop Grumman.

 

Luna Chiu, an integrated product team manager for radio frequency (RF) antenna system products at the company’s facility in Baltimore, also received WOCT’s Special Recognition award for her contributions in materials-science research and RF. (Back to top)
